EST has been around since the early 1980s, initially focusing on antistatic technologies for the printer industry. After being acquired by Illinois Tool Works (ITW) in 1999, EST continued its work in electrostatics and introduced AEGIS Shaft Grounding Rings in 2005.

Electric charges on rotating components have been causing bearing damage in electric motors, particularly since the introduction of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs). To mitigate this damage, EST has been a leader in technological advances. Their proprietary technology uses conductive microfibers inside the AEGIS Grounding Rings to divert the motor’s shaft current to the ground, reducing damage caused by harmful voltages and increasing motor life.
